of\u00a0absence,\u00a0parents\/guardians are requested to\u00a0write an explanatory note in the pupil&#8217;s Contact Book, or if\u00a0preferred, to contact the school reception directly by telephone class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Home School Agreement<\/h2>\n<p>All parents are asked to be aware of our Home School Agreement which defines\u00a0the\u00a0responsibilities of students, parents and the school respectively.\u00a0 This can be found in the pupil&#8217;s Contact Book.\u00a0 The \u2018Standards in the School\u2019 section at the front of the book explains the school&#8217;s expectations of\u00a0pupils and highlights parental responsibility.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It also refers to the school E-safety policy. \u00a0 This offers parents the opportunity to actively engage in the education of their children.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-3d1sfbz-2f91f0c6e732f871c5db651085b22eed '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Communication with parents<\/h2>\n<p>All parents are urged to contact the School\u00a0regarding any matter relating to their child\u2019s progress.\u00a0 A school calendar is circulated to parents every September highlighting important events.\u00a0\u00a0 The school website (www.ysgolystrade.cymru) promotes the school beyond the local community.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-axq8hr-b0e729b6573519735332d87beea847b2 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Praise and reward<\/h2>\n<p>We consider praise and reward to be a key element in a child\u2019s education:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Praise is regularly given for any\u00a0work of high standard\/effort\u00a0produced either orally or written in exercise books or in Contact Books.<\/li>\n<li>Good work and good attitude and\u00a0behaviour\u00a0are recorded in the\u00a0School Reports.<\/li>\n<li>Other\u00a0successes and\u00a0achievements are acknowledged during\u00a0pastoral lessons, year and whole school assemblies.<\/li>\n<li>Pupils\u2019 work is exhibited\u00a0whenever possible.<\/li>\n<li>The opportunity to praise and reward\u00a0pupils is welcomed by the Headteacher,\u00a0the Deputy and Heads of Standards.<\/li>\n<li>Pupils are encouraged to take part in\u00a0extra-curricular activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>When punishment is necessary it is administered in the following ways:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Break and lunchtime detentions.<\/li>\n<li>On report.<\/li>\n<li>Removal from lessons for a period of time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Disciplinary problems are dealt with in the following ways:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Everyday, less serious problems: Form\u00a0tutor, Head of Standards.<\/li>\n<li>More serious problems: Senior Leadership Team\u00a0followed by\u00a0the Headteacher if no improvement is evident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Authority allows the school to exclude pupils from the school for a fixed period in exceptional from\u00a0being in a\u00a0comparatively small unit, in which as a senior member, he or she\u00a0has imported status and position, into a much larger organisation, both in term of number on roll and extent of building.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, in the first instance, \u00a0he\u00a0or she may\u00a0experience a sense of insecurity\u00a0or feel \u2018lost\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0Hence, this sense of \u2018belonging\u2019 has to be adequately catered for and must be given prime consideration, particularly as the school continues to increase in size.<\/p>\n<p>A Form Tutor is responsible for his or her Form Group.\u00a0 He or she is responsible for morning and afternoon registration and for monitoring the progress and welfare of all boys and girls in the group.\u00a0 Heads of Standards are responsible for co-ordinating the work of the Form
